Investigation of Institute for research and development of organic products
1. Test duration
From April 1st to May 20th, 2021
2. Purpose
To investigate antibacterial activity of the Japanese technology multifunctional deodorant hanging bag CLODEWASH (powder form produces gas) against some pathogenic microorganisms.
3. Test microorganism
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 9027
- Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538
- Escherichia coli ATCC 8739
- Salmonella typhimurium ATCC 13311
- Candida albicans ATCC 10231
- Mycotuberculosis ATCC 25618
- Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633
4. Principle of test method
The test microorganisms including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella typhimurium, Mycotuberculosis has been prepared in dilution solution to make test suspension. Then take the suspention and pipette onto a filter paper (1 cm diameter). Put the filter paper with test microorganism into a box with the test product for different time course (30 minute, 2 hours, 4 hours, and 8 hours). After that, the filter paper are submerged into a tube containing peptone buffer and determine the surviving microorgansim. The microorganism survival show the antibacterial activity of the test product.
5. Calculation of the results
- N: is the number of bacteria per ml in the test suspension before treatment
- Na: is the number of bacteria per ml in the test suspension after treatment and neutralization and/or submerged in peptone buffer (for hanging bag)
- N and Na are calculated following formula: N = C/(n1 + 0,1n2)10x
Where: Vc is number of bacteria in each pectri disk
C is the sum of Vc value taken into account
n1 is the number of Vc value taken into account in the lower dilution
n2 is the number of Vc value taken into account in the higher dilution
10x is the dilution factor corresponding to the lower dilution
- The results are shown as: 1,0-9,9 x 10x CFU/ml
Formulate a table to compare number of microorganism before and after treatment by the produts. Antibacterial capacity is measure as (N-Na)/N*100%
6. Test results of antibacterial activity

Note: <10: Not detected
Explaination: The Japanese technology multifunctional deodorant hanging bag CLODEWASH show good antibacterial properties against P. aeruginosa (with 5 lg reduction after 4 hour treatment), S. aureus, E. coli, and S. typhimurium (with 5-6 lg reduction after 8 hour treatment) which is equivalent to 99,99% antibacterial capacity. The product could also reduce 4 lg against C. albicans (99,95%) and 3 lg against Mycotuberculosis and B. subtilis with the antibacterial capacity of 99,6 and 99,1%, respectively after 8 hour treatment.
